The term 'duffel bag' has its origins in the military. It was just the cylindrical canvas bag soldiers used to store their clothes and other gear. Things have come a long way since then and that universally useful design long ago made its way to the mainstream. And, boy, are we lucky it did...

Take the High Sierra AT3, for example. This drop-bottom duffel bag has smooth in-line skate wheels and a telescoping handle with a soft grip that mean you don't have to lug that thing around. But because it's a duffel you can, in hand or as a backpack, and with complete assurance. This thing is indestructible.

The padded backpack straps are stored behind a zippered padded back panel. That makes carrying it over the shoulder or across the shoulder blades a cinch. The top loading front accessory pocket lets you keep your most-wanted items right at hand, too. Inside there are dividers to help organize your stuff and they can be rolled up if you don't want to use them.
